FAQS

We have some of our most commonly asked questions answered below.

What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

The main distinction between a nutritionist and a dietitian is that in addition to or as part of their qualification in human nutrition, a dietitian has undertaken a course of study that included substantial theory and supervised and assessed professional practice in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.

Therefore in Australia all dietitians are considered nutritionists. However, nutritionists without a dietetics qualification cannot take on the specialised role of a dietitian.

What will happen at my initial consultation?

At the initial consultation we like to get to know you, to provide you with the most appropriate individualised advice. To do this we collect background information about your medical history, lifestyle habits and eating patterns with a strong focus on your current health and wellbeing goals.

As well as this, we may also look at recent blood tests that you have had and take some measures such as height and weight. With the full initial consult taking approximately 60 minutes.
